Our Story

The Idea Behind La Rondola (La ROHN-Doh-La)

I'm an explorer at heart, and the very best part of travel is uncovering places and stories that many people, perhaps even locals, don't know. As an artist, my natural instinct is to capture these memories on canvas.

At the crossroads of art and travel, postcards were the obvious medium I could use to share the beautiful places and stories I discovered on my journey. My dream at La Rondola is to bring the world closer together through stories and art that encourage you to then go out, explore your own beautiful surroundings, and learn your own world.

More Than Just a Postcard

There's so much to the world that simply can't be captured in a 5x7 painting ~ not only did I want to paint the places I encountered, but I also wanted to contextualize them through learning and explaining the history and culture behind each place.

Through La Rondola's postcard club, we're able to do just that. Each month, members receive a postcard that comes with a letter explaining the history and stories from the place. In return, their support helps carry forward our mission of learning and supporting the world. 

We donate 10% of all sales to EarthShare Texas ~ a nonprofit supporting environmental and conservation work in our home state. By making a purchase or joining the monthly postcard club, you can feel good about giving back!

Our Name and Inspiration

I feel a particular kinship across northern Italy, having spent several years living there in my early 20s. In several north Italian minority languages, La Rondola means the swallow (as in the bird).

I chose the swallow as a symbol of journey ~ each year they fly thousands of miles across continents in an eternal migrational voyage. Their need to travel is instinctual, and I feel quite similar about my own wanderlust. This need to travel and know the world is what inspires our postcard collection and monthly club.
